The Highlanders' Institute Many years ago, during the heyday of the Clan MacFarlane Pipe Band, we ran a speakeasy out of the basement of my house and later moved to 12 Henrietta Street in St. Catharines, Ontario, to a house, owned by band member Ronnie Rollo. This became our watering hole - our home away from home - a place where we could meet others for good conversation and a tune over a pint of your favorite. It fondly became known as The Highlanders' Institute in reference to that famous Glasgow landmark of years gone by. From this, its name was gradually shortened to the 'tute and hence a legend was born. Pipers from miles around would congregate at the 'tute for the weekly sessions. This page has been opened in The Captain's Corner to once again let pipers congregate for a good tune - a good listen - or simply a read of something new in the piping world. Enjoy !
